Looking to Become Avon Representative? 3 Dirty Little Secrets Your Sponsor Won't Tell You Looking to Become Avon Representative? 3 Dirty Little Secrets Your Sponsor Won't Tell You by Taigh G. Smyth

As we are in an economic slump, more people are looking into the opportunity of working for themselves and are thinking to become Avon representative. But before you get started in your Avon business you should know exactly what you're getting into.

Avon was founded in 1955 and their mission is to "Improve the Lives of Women, Globally". As you may already know, Avon carries personal care products such as cosmetics. But lets talk about what it means to become a rep with Avon.

Avon sells their products using a direct sales model. This is where you to become avon representative comes into play. You act as the middle-man connecting the customer with the products. With low start-up costs to join Avon it definitely looks like an attractive offer, but lets look at what's really involved in building a successful Avon business.

Home Parties - Yes, those awful things that women feel obligated to go to even though they would rather watch a wrestling match. Home parties have been around for a while but this is an "old school" way of building a direct sales business. If you're not excited about the idea of getting your friends and family together to try out and purchase your products, this is not going to be a very comfortable experience. Some ladies are great at it and not everyone thinks it's 'awful', but ask yourself if this is something you can be passionate about doing?

Delivering Products - You'll feel a rush of excitement as you get your first few customers, then you'll get 5, or 10 more. Now picture what life is going to be like when you are trying to build your business but you are now the personal Avon rep to all of these people. Let me get to the point - You are going to have to drive around these individual purchases to your customers whenever they ask for more products from you. When you take into consideration the time spent and the cost of gas... is it really worth it? Time is your most valuable asset and dealing with customer orders will drain your precious time which you should be allocating to building your Avon business.

Residuals - How often do we hear about "Time Freedom" and the amazing opportunity of working from home? Well, a big part of being able to achieve time freedom is to have a product that customers order regularly. Yes, cosmetics do run out, but it can take a couple of months. So that means you wont make another sale to that customer until they are finished their existing product. Ideally you want to have a product that is on a monthly subscription. This creates more repeat orders. On top of that, you should not have to drive around any products, or have to deal with collecting money. They should be shipped right to your customers' front door and you should receive a "referral commission".

So there you have it. If you decide to move forward and become Avon Representative I wish you best of luck.
